Plan of actions

The Government of Barbados through the Coastal Zone Management Unit is planning a series of activities to highlight both the Art and Science of Coral Reefs during IYOR 2008. Their activities have a focus on public education which they believe is one of the primary issues in Barbados. Public education will take the form of the traditional community talks, with personnel travelling to the different communities. A book on the coral reefs of Barbados is being developed as well as a 7 part television series on the corals of Barbados. A meeting of Eastern Caribbean scientists and a training programme on Crime Scene Investigations fro Coral reefs is being planned as well as Mini Symposium for participants from primary Schools to University. The Arts will be used to show case the beauty of coral reefs in dance, photography, sculptures, music, film, fashion and poetry. A complete list is outlined below.
