The Gulf of Mannar (GoM)

The Gulf of Mannar (GoM) was declared as Marine Biosphere Reserve under UNESCO's Man and Biosphere Programme in 1989 by the Government of India. The 140 km long coastal stretch of GoM, extending from Rameswaram to Tuticorin is having 21 uninhabited islands surrounded by coral reefs and was declared as Marine National Park by Tamil Nadu State Government in 1986.
